Continuing Education: Exam clinical medicine

This exam is based on a shorter version of the USMLE Step 2, a multiple-choice exam designed to determine whether the examinee possesses the medical knowledge and understanding of clinical science considered essential for providing patient care under supervision.

For who

Clinicians and naturopaths who want to continue their education can take a clinical medicine exam. It does not cover naturopathic approaches but focuses solely on broadening the understanding of clinical medicine in the naturopathic world. It also is a great refresher exam to keep you sharp!

Example Question

A 49-year-old man walks in to the emergency department because of intermittent diffuse abdominal pain and several episodes of diarrhea. The pain gets worse after meals. These symptoms have been on and off for 4 months but have worsened recently. Today he developed sudden-onset severe left-sided abdominal pain and some rectal bleeding. He has had significant weight loss since his GI symptoms started. His medical history includes systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), which has been difficult to manage medically. Temperature is 37.2°C, heart rate is 96/min, respiratory rate is 13/min, and blood pressure is 102/70 mm Hg. On physical examination, the patient appears mildly uncomfortable and has mild diffuse abdominal tenderness. What is the most likely diagnosis?
